Initially from a retail background, Matt started sweeping chimneys in 2007. A move to Spain prompted a new career start and he ran a successful business in Andalucía for three years. A strange thing, but the temperatures in Spain can drop as low as -10°C in certain areas in the winter and there is very little central heating, therefore many people use wood burners and open fires to heat their houses and caves !
Matt gained extensive knowledge and experience during his time in Spain as many installations are not quite as orthodox as we are use to here in the UK!
Matt sold his Spanish business in 2010 and he and his family moved back to the UK. Goodfires Chimney Sweeping was established.
Now a certified and registered member of the Guild of Master Sweeps, Matt will continue to build on his existing knowledge and continue to improve the services that Goodfires Chimney Sweeping can offer.
